Adverse Weather
Updated adverse weather procedures for 2019.
With winter upon us, we would like to remind you how we deal with any severe weather, especially snow, which may affect the school.
Each day of any severe weather, Mr Marsh will make an assessment about whether it is safe and practical to open the school to pupils. He will consult our Chair of Governors, Robert Ruston. A decision will be made late in the afternoon/evening of the day before (preferably) or early in the morning of the closure day itself, hopefully in enough time to inform you if we are to close.
You will be informed by text if the school is to close to your child/ren each day. If you do not hear anything from us, the school will be open. Should you wish to check reports of closure, you can do so by visiting either our school website or the council website www.bury.gov.uk where you will find up-to-date information. Closure information will also be shared with local radio stations for them to use as they wish in their bulletins.
Please be assured that the decision to close our school is only made in exceptional circumstances where the safety of your child/ren is the primary concern. On occasion closure may be due to the availability of teaching staff that travel some distance to reach school and in consideration for their safety rather than purely conditions for children getting to school. You may find that other local schools are open or closed as the Local Authority leaves it to the decision of each individual school and their circumstances.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at school. If you would like to receive information and school updates via our text messaging service, please contact the school to provide your most up to date details.
