Here is this Half Term’s topic board, showing lots of the different work we have been doing around our topic: Penguins, Possums and Pigs.

We have been looking at Continents and Oceans,

    Drawing maps of Ramsbottom,

    Grouping animals in different ways,

Filling in a daily weather diary,

And looking at hot and cold parts of our world (to list a few so far!)

In English we have been reading Julia Donaldson books, writing animal stories and poems, and producing information posters about animals.

In Art, we have been using different medias, looking at cold colours to draw icebergs then using warm coloured pastels to create a beautiful sunrise over a hot desert. This week we start creating our clay animals. There will be more pictures of our Art work soon.

In Maths, we have been learning about 10s and 1s, number bonds to 10, addition and subtraction, shape and measurements. Year 1 have especially enjoyed playing Lego tower games adding and subtracting bricks to their towers and learning to measure using a ruler.

We have been having lots of fun this half term.
